Love, leadership, and risky business

My blog is an intimate way for me to share my unique struggles and lessons learned in my pursuit of love, leadership, and taking OWL the risks! Writing is a way for me to process OWL the information I take in each week, and an opportunity for me to share my expertise with OWL of you.

As an added bonus, it’s hoo-sterical and very pun-ey!

Self-esteem, what is it good for, absolutely nothin’

Self-esteem, what is it good for, absolutely nothin’

Sing it again, SELF-ESTEEM, what is it good for, absolutely nothin’! Confidence is everything. OWL talk about that more in a minute, but first let me explain to you why self-esteem is good for, well, almost nothing. Self-esteem is your overall opinion of yourself— how you feel about your abilities and limitations. At the root, self-esteem is an opinion you have about yourself. And you know what they say about opinions and assholes…every Judge has one, and everyone has the Judge. Whether your self-esteem is high, low, or somewhere in between is entirely up to you, so don’t leave this one up to the Judge!

Quantum Flirts

Quantum Flirts

As described by Arnold Mindell, a quantum flirt is “a short-lived, transient, perpetual signal which can be used to provide us with insight.” A flirt from the universe can come in any form—we can see them, hear them, feel, smell or taste them. These quantum flirts with the universe happen throughout our daily lives, like a gentle nudge meant to catch our attention, so that we can actually observe and notice whatever meaning that may hold for us.

Confronting Fear

Confronting Fear

To confront our fear, we first need to understand what fear really is. Fear is an emotion that is extremely important to the human mind, similar to the way pain is for the physical body. But there’s another kind of fear, and that fear comes from knowledge that we learned from our parents, from society, about what is good and what is bad, what is right and what is wrong. We became afraid of being punished, or of not getting a reward.

Healing Emotional Wounds

The treatment to heal emotional wounds is the truth, forgiveness, and self-love. Truth acts like a scalpel that opens the emotional wound. Then we need to clean up the pain...we clean it up with forgiveness.

You want to reinvent your career, now what?

If you are not currently satisfied by your career or responsibilities, start by committing some of your precious energy to a personally satisfying hobby to remind yourself what it feels like to use your energy in a way that lights you up. Rather than feel “pushed out” of your career, allow yourself to be “pulled in” to what was always meant for you. A few things to remember:

I want to break free…

It’s a pandemic. Whoo’s soul isn’t longing to break free right now? Heck, even before the pandemic I would argue that 95% of humans in the developed world have souls that are longing to break free from the lies our ego makes up in our minds. It isn’t until we fall in love with whoo we really are—for real, that we can even become aware that our soul wants to break free.

What could be possible if you’re wrong?

What could be possible if you’re wrong?

If I were to bottom line it tell you what I do, I would say I’m in the business of telling people they’re wrong. It’s a risky business and not one that I take lightly, but it must be done in order to uncover what’s possible. This doesn’t mean I’m OWL-ways right, after all, what could be possible for my client if I’m wrong, is equally as important. So in that way, I suppose you could also say I’m also in the business of being wrong.

With or without you…

Oh heart, how long my brain has made you wait to be relevant and really hear what you have to say. U2 said it best, my heart can’t live with or without you brain. And so we dance. And you give. And you give. And you give yourself away brain…

Let’s talk about sex!

Let’s talk about sex!

OWL be honest, talking about sex is a little uncomfortable for me. If you're laughing right now and thinking, “I don’t believe you,” well you’re half right. I’m perfectly fine making a good sex joke or sharing a comedic story about sex. But talking about what I like or communicating to my partner what I need is the LAST thing my ‘avoider’ wants to do. Yet here I am, teaming up with the founder of Holistic Progressions, Sex Coach Stacie Ysidro to help you master your Erotic BlueprintTM and improve your communication skills in the bedroom, boardroom, and beyond.

Meditation isn’t just for hippies

Meditation isn’t just for hippies

As a self-proclaimed hippie whoo was born a couple generations too late, OWL be honest here and admit that even this hippie had no place for meditation in her life up until now. Have you ever met a yogi? I rest my case. So many of the meditation coaches and friends I had that were “super into mindfulness,” didn’t appear to have any magic secret ingredient that I was willing to try. Meditation was for the monks, the buddhists, and many other people whoo weren’t me.

Leadership lessons I learned living without a cell phone for a week…

Leadership lessons I learned living without a cell phone for a week…

As an elder millennial, I can still recall the days when email wasn’t attached to my phone, and internet was something you purchased in gigabytes or something like that. So when I accidentally dropped my phone on the street and came back 30 minutes later to find the screen and camera lens shattered after I don’t know how many cars ran it over, I was perfectly fine with going off the grid for a few days while I waited for my Apple genius bar appointment to determine whether or not my phone was toast.

What to expect after 30 days of coaching.

The world is waiting for you to share your superpowers, and when you finally do, you can almost feel the earth move as it redirects you to where you were always destined to go. Now I’m not saying the pandemic is a direct result of me hiring a life coach in February…but I will attest this shift in the world opened up room for me to laugh with my new love, learn at ALL the coaching schools, and get empowered to provide professional coaching that evokes transformation…

Listen to the music

That’s right, today’s post on Wise and Witty in Relationships is based on the wisdom from none other than the Doobie Brothers. If you’ve met my dad, it all adds up. Before you dismiss this post as something for stoners and hippies, hear me out for first.

It’s 2am I must be tired…

That’s right, it’s 2:00am and I’m not sleeping, so clearly I must be tired. To the dude who sang about being lonely at 3am, perhaps it’s because you were the asshole that blasted techno music, got drunk and fought with your girl at 2am. No, this isn’t a story about me and Dan (he’s adorably sleeping right now)…
