What could be possible if you’re wrong?
If I were to bottom line it tell you what I do, I would say I’m in the business of telling people they’re wrong. It’s a risky business and not one that I take lightly, but it must be done in order to uncover what’s possible. This doesn’t mean I’m OWL-ways right, after all, what could be possible for my client if I’m wrong, is equally as important. So in that way, I suppose you could also say I’m also in the business of being wrong. Right or wrong, what’s important is that I’m a radically different voice in the room that creates space for new awareness—the key to evoking transformation. A new awareness, this new level of consciousness, this is the enemy of the ego and his limiting beliefs, and it’s OWL it takes to begin rewriting your story.
Limiting beliefs keep us in our old story, a story that got us here, but won’t get us there. Deep down we know this to be true. So why is it that people hang onto these beliefs for so long, despite knowing that clinging to them is the very thing causing us pain? OWL give you a hint, our brain’s find it really comfortable here. In fact, unless you disrupt ‘business as usual’ in your brain and play with what’s possible, you’ll never truly transform your thinking and change. We refer to this disruption as "“doing the deep work,” because thinking radically different thoughts like, “you are wrong on everything you ever thought to be true,” is going to take you to some deep places.
The ego, sometimes referred to as the Imposter Syndrome or the Sabatour, doesn’t take lightly to being challenged. The ego has been around since the day you were born feels pretty at home with his thoughts and belief systems. In fact, he feels so at home here that he’s been working tirelessly to write your story for you, just so he can stay relevant. I like to refer to my ego as a ‘he’ because in my mind’s eye he is an ugly gremlin that feeds on negativity, which feels very masculine to me.
The ego is the unconscious you whoo goes through life unaware that this “thing” that you’re chasing and the identity you’re creating is OWL by design of the ego. I know this, because I spent so so much precious time in the arms of my ego, writing and rewriting my story until the day my entire identity came crashing down. In just 6 short weeks I was divorced and negotiating the sale of my first business. Whoo was I, if not the wife of, the business partner of, the gym owner of…. It’s fair to say my ego couldn’t handle the loss and at that moment whoo I became was an anxious, manic/depressive mental mess whoo endured a few months of mentally breaking down. The ego just couldn’t handle losing the identity it had spent a lifetime building.
I would like to tell you that this ego I speak of left me forever after that breakdown, but then again no. Whoo is to say what is good or what is bad. Our egos serve a purpose, they get us here. It’s when we realize that our egos can’t get us beyond here to where we really want to go, that the deep work begins. Before you try and get out of this toxic relationship with ego, you need to honor it for OWL that it’s down for you. After all, our ego served us well for awhile.
Every day the ego comes out, he tells us who were not, so that we can discover whoo we really are.
The ego thinks in black and white terms, oscillating between living in the past and working towards the future. Anytime you find your mind wandering in the past or shining a spotlight on the fears of the future, be still, and know that this is not whoo you are. Listen to him and learn his voice so well it makes you laugh at how not you this ego is.
Be still again, and know that the present is a present, because the ego cannot live here. The present is what’s real and what’s available to you here and now. Look around you! Connect with OWL the gifts the present brings you—abundance, security, love, joy, peace and happiness, all of these things exist in the present moment, waiting for you to receive them.
Obligations and fear are the tools of the inner enemy we call ego. Only love and light can drive out fear, and with it OWL the obligations and identity the ego has placed upon you. Love the ego for OWL that he reveals about who you are not. Shine a light on how wrong he is. Be still and know whoo you really are…
