Electronics are hard...

I am that person. My phone is always dying and my apple watch status is somewhere between charged and this will die before the end of the day. Ironically I bought the apple watch to serve as a back up for when my phone dies. And it generally has come in handy, except when I forget to charge both devices...As I am writing this, my phone is sitting next to me at 6% and my phone charger is right next to me on the floor. I have been sitting her for an hour without charging my phone. Why am I like this...? (Update, the answer is ADHD and this is one of my symptoms).

When I reflect back on all the times electronics have failed me in my life, I only have myself to blame. Thankfully, the universe always provides. The man upstairs clearly has a sense of humor and helps me out a lot, as is evident on this list of top five times electronics were hard…

Top 5 Electronic Fails

1) That time I left my keys in my uber and my phone died.
Last May I dedicated an entire blog post to how keys are hard. Fast-forward one year later and, well, I am consistent. I was returning from a Bachelorette party in the burbs in a Uber. As soon as I step out of the Uber and close the door I check my pocket for my keys and immediately panic. I start running down the street yelling stop, my #teambride cup flys out of my gift bag and it's pouring down rain. The Uber keeps driving and turns the corner. Defeated, I pick up my cup and get my phone to call the driver and it dies. The universe, thankfully, always has my back. Yadda, yadda, yadda, with a little help from my 3rd floor neighbor’s electricity, 2 hours, and a $20 tip to the uber driver, I was inside my apartment taking a nap on my couch.

2) That time I got lost in NYC and my phone died.
This has most likely happened more than once. But it really isn't that big of a deal. It just means an unexpected adventure into a bar for a drink and a phone charge. Usually I have a charger, and if I don't, generally they can find one for me. It's 2019 friends, electricity is everywhere!

3) Phone didn't die, but I accidentally locked my phone and keys inside my friend's condo when she was at work.
My friend lives in the burbs and I still had a car at this time, so I left after rush hour to head home and managed to lock\ my set of keys and phone in the house. And my computer and WiFi hot spot in my car were dead. I had to drive a mile down the road to a Dunkin Donuts so I could frantically Facebook message and email my friends. We are old millennials, they responded via FB with the garage code. I needed a coffee anyway. See guys, everything always works out!

4) That time my phone died while driving.
Honestly, this has happened more than once, but the solution is generally the same. Locate gas station and purchase a charger. If you are lucky, there will be a Starbucks next door and the charger won’t be terribly expensive. Extra lucky if you have a cord and just need the charger.

5) Those times family/friends/man friends tried to reach me
I am truly sorry guys! I don't mean to be irresponsible with my phone charging! But think of all the fun adventures we’ve had together on a quest to get my phone charged! Yeah, I know, I'm sorry. Why am I like this?(Update: I have ADHD and this is a symptom. Also happy to report that since COVID my electronics have been mostly charged, although still a crap shoot on whether I throw my phone on the charger at night).
