Grateful for you

Today I’m feeling grateful for you. If you’re reading this right now, I’m grateful that the universe has brought you into my life. As I sit here reflecting on all the humans I’ve encountered on along the way, I’m grateful for every one of you. Whether it was a reason, a season, or just plain old fashion luck that our paths crossed, I’m grateful for the impact you’ve made on my life. For the humans I haven’t met, but perhaps feel inspired or connected just by reading this blog or listening to the podcast, thank you for allowing me to take up space in your life, even if it was just a brief moment in time.

Yesterday I attended my first online workshop for my Leadership Program at the Co-Active Institute. For 90-minutes, our two fearless leaders held space for the group to explore what they refer to as, The Co-Active Leadership Model or simply the New Leadership Model. It’s a 5-dimensional model of leadership that completely makes sense to my teacher brain. It’s exactly how I ran my classroom, and why I was such a good teacher…until I wasn’t (insert government rules & regs here).

Last night I had the opportunity to recognize my success as a leader in the “New Model,” and hold space for where I need to spend time developing my skills. What an incredible gift! The leader in front, behind, in the field, and beside you are all facets of leadership I’m familiar with, like a muscle that I’ve worked before, I have these skills and feel comfortable lifting the heavy weight. It doesn’t mean I don’t ever fail, but the foundation is there and so is the strength. The leader within…self acceptance, self authority, self trust, those are areas I need to develop. I’m grateful that muscle existed once. The neurological patterns are there, although they need a little dusting off form time to time. But like my body that hasn’t seen a gym consistently in over 2 years, it’s going to take some intentional work and heavy lifting to develop the leader within.

Bring it on 2020! Today I’m grateful I took a leap of faith and joined the Co-Active Institute Leadership Program.

What are you grateful for today? #dayfiveofgratitude
